The total number of detected coronavirus infected people in the world is about three million. Unprecedented efforts are being made to defeat SARS-CoV-2. In a number of countries, there are already discussions of gradually weakening quarantine measures. According to The Telegraph, the UK has already passed its coronavirus peak while entering the fifth week of isolation.
The good forecast is that people and businesses who have successfully adapted to that unexpectedly rapid change will not loose that much and will only benefit from that. Thus, with the pandemic developing, as a result of the forced transition to a remote mode of operation, many companies will open up new opportunities for themselves.
In general, for the society’s professional growth, we see positive aspects – in particular, the growth of the popularity of remote work. It is time for society to be prepared for this.
The pandemic of the new coronavirus COVID-19 in the world can last for two years. This was stated by the german Robert Koch Institute’s president, reports Reuters.
“Our assumption is that it will take about two years… We still do not know what mortality will look like at the end,” said Lothar Wheeler, president of the institute.
According to him, the timing of the spread of coronavirus depends on how long it takes to develop a vaccine.
Wheeler noted that during this period from 60% to 70% of the world’s population can become infected with the coronavirus, recover and develop immunity to it.
“Many office workers have successfully switched to remote work and are not going to come back to the way they worked before. This is good news for many companies – they will be able to hire people based on their competencies, hire workers from different parts of the world and different time zones, because in a couple of months a lot of workers will get used to these circumstances,” SuperJob founder says.
The existence of offices as a space for work have substantially changed. Such components of offices as comfortable offices for company’s management, one large open space for employees, high partitions between tables and lack of personal space are about to disappear to the past.
Desktops arranged in rows in large spaces are the type of open space in where employees might already feel uncomfortable. The two biggest disadvantages of this solution are constant noise and lack of places for quietness and concentration. Moreover, including the fact that now, in conditions of self-isolation, most people work from home, will offices be needed in the future? Some experts suggest that some people will switch to remote work, and the concept of having multiple common working spaces through out the office, as well as work in co-working, will become even more popular.
The leaders of large technical companies note that employees remain effective even when working from home. Thus, after the end of the coronavirus pandemic, many companies will reconsider the demand for offices and, perhaps, leave some of the employees to work remotely.
“If everyone can really work at home, why do we have all these big offices around the world?” says Rimini Street CEO Seth Ravin, “You’re going to see so many companies rethinking real estate.” – Business Insider.
Ravin believes that in the future, companies will be able to abandon the use of offices and rent only conference rooms for employees who would prefer to work outside their flats. Larry Ellison, co-founder and chairman of the board of directors, said the company would never return to face-to-face meetings, as management appreciated the usability of YouTube and Zoom for meetings. In turn, the head of Okta Todd McKinnon said that the company employs almost 2,250 employees and in the future Okta plans to turn the office “into a more flexible working environment, rather than a place designed for permanent work.”
“Once they’ve done it, they’re going to want to continue,” said Kate Lister, president of consulting firm Global Workplace Analytics, which is currently running a survey about work-from-home participation. She predicts that 30 percent of people will work from home multiple days per week within a couple of years.
Overall, it is for sure that industries that work efficiently in digital form is unlikely to return to offline presence entirely. The lifestyle in which people lived before the start of the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus will not be ever the same. Digitalization will accelerate in all spheres of life, in the state, businesses and society; everything that can be converted “into digital” will be transferred to this format in the near future.
The forecasts show that most of the industries, including retail, banking, and even health and educational sectors would switch for the remote work as it saves time (no need to travel to work/meetings/even in between different floors in the office), money (no need to pay the office rent, office expenses, etc.) and as some of the surveys already show, that the workers are more productive from home.
The world will never be the same after the pandemic. It is the best time to increase your house space with the comfortable extension, innovative loft conversion or with the spacious home office next to your house. Your house has always been the place of energy, and since the world is spending more time at home due to the circumstances and these rapid changes, why not to make your house even better, more spacious and the most important INSPIRATIONAL to work from NOW?
Yes, fortunately it is! The construction companies are required to follow strict rules, such as social distancing, in order to make sure that the clients, as well as the workers are safe.
